The Religious Studies Division serves the non-seminarian population of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, providing Catholic theological education at all levels, from non-credit catechesis to graduate work. Working in cooperation with various Archdiocesan offices to satisfy the educational needs of the local Church, the Division offers programs for educators, those involved in parish ministries, and the general public. Through its online programs, the Saint Charles experience is made available to the universal Church.

  1. To provide a graduate program in Catholic theology that is academically challenging and theologically orthodox and prepares students for teaching at the high school or college level.
  2. To provide an undergraduate program that prepares students to serve in various ministries of the Archdiocese and beyond, or to enter the graduate program.
  3. To provide adult catechesis for catechists and the general population.
  4. To provide continuing education for priests.
  5. To provide workshops and conferences on current topics of interest to the faithful.

The Graduate Program of the Religious Studies Division offers a Master of Arts with concentrations in Sacred Scripture, Spiritual Theology, Systematic Theology, and Moral Theology.

The Undergraduate Program offers certificates in Catholic Religious Studies and Roman Catechetical Diploma, Liturgical Studies, Pastoral Ministry to African-American Catholics, and Youth Ministry.

The Catechetical Institute provides general catechesis for adults, and certification credits for catechists through the Office for Catechetical Formation.

The Theological Institute for Priests provides opportunities for continuing education for clergy.
